Wim Hekman
Co-owner/founder of Costa Andalucía Holidays.
Wim was born and raised in the Netherlands and is a qualified master goldsmith/juweler. After 25 years as a goldsmith jeweler in the Netherlands he lives and works since 2001 with great pleasure in Spain. Wim is responsible for the photography. He also writes and translates the texts for the website. Wim is a creative go-getter with photography as a hobby for which he followed a training at the photography school in Apeldoorn. Wim speaks Dutch, English, German and Spanish.
Wies Hekman
Co-owner/founder of Costa Andalucía Holidays.
Like Wim, Wies was born and raised in the Netherlands, where she worked as a jeweler for 25 years. Wies has also been living in Spain with great pleasure since 2001. Wies is responsible for the daily management, administration, making bookings and maintaining contacts with customers and owners. Wies speaks Dutch, English, German and a reasonable level of Spanish.
Sandra Fryer Hekman
Co-owner and responsible for front office and marketing.
Sandra was born and raised in the Netherlands and emigrated to Spain in 2001 at the age of 18. Sandra has completed her training in tourism in the Netherlands and has been working in tourism in Spain since 2002. Sandra is manager of the reservations / bookings department and ensures that all bookings are handled accurately. Sandra also takes care of the marketing and social media department. Sandra speaks Dutch, fluent English, Spanish and a some German.

What happened till now.
1983:
Wim and Wies Hekman are happily married and have two daughters, Sandra aged 10 and Cindy aged 14. Wim and Wies are enthusiastic goldsmiths and together they run their own goldsmith's studio in a converted farmhouse on the river Vecht near Gramsbergen. In 1983, they expanded the studio with a jewellery shop in Hardenberg - Overijssel. The farm was sold and the jewellery shop became a great success. They enjoy their work, but the idea of a life under the Spanish sun never leaves them.
2000:
Oldest daughter Cindy is happily married and lives in Holland. Youngest daughter Sandra has completed her tourism studies and wants to emigrate to Spain to work in tourism. After careful consideration, Wim and Wies decide to make a long-cherished wish come true and emigrate to Spain together with Sandra.
2001:
The big move has started. Their own home has been sold and they are temporarily living in a rented house. After a successful sale, the jewellery premises have also been sold. The great adventure can begin. The removal van is loaded, and after a beautiful but emotional farewell party, the long journey to the Costa del Sol begins. Wim and Wies both speak Dutch, English and German. They don't speak Spanish yet, but they will start soon in Spain.
2003:
After a two-year integration period, Wim and Wies speak Spanish reasonably well and have started a new life. They said goodbye to their past as goldsmiths/jewellers, and after an introductory period they started as independent real estate agents. Instead of jewellery they now sell houses from their real estate office in Fuengirola. Sandra now has a permanent job in the tourist industry. Sandra now has a permanent job in the tourism sector. Sandra speaks speak Dutch, English, Spanish and a little German.
2007:
House sales are going well until the crisis hits Spain in 2007. The sale of houses has severely decreased, so action has to be taken. The step to renting out holiday homes seems a logic one. Wim and Wies will now concentrate more on the holiday rental business.
2013:
Wim and Wies have stopped selling houses to fully concentrate on the rental business. Sandra has come to strengthen the team with her tourism experience and two motivated Dutch cleaning teams ensure that the accommodations look great and clean when you arrive.
2016:
The office becomes too small and the accessibility is not ideal. A new location is found on the carretera de Mijas. The new location just outside Fuengirola is easy to reach from the airport and there is plenty of parking space in front of the door.
2019:
In January 2019, a new booking system was put into operation with a totally redesigned website linked to it. The new website has been modernised on all fronts and optimised for holiday rentals. A major advantage is that direct online booking and online payment are now possible on the website.
2020:
2020 started off well, but since March a lot has changed worldwide because of the corona pandemic. Health is suddenly no longer something we take for granted. For many people, corona has had a major impact within the circle of family and friends. Governments are trying to control the pandemic with all kinds of far-reaching restrictions. This, of course, has a huge impact on everyone's life: a lot of staying indoors, and little or no contact with friends, family and the neighbourhood. No restaurants, cafes or theatres to visit, and even holidays were out of the question for many people this year. Travelling abroad has become almost impossible, and booking a holiday home abroad seems a long way off. Many companies experience the enormous impact on a daily basis, as does our company.
2021:
At the beginning of 2021, the Corona pandemic is unfortunately not over yet, but there are bright spots on the horizon. Privately and professionally we still exist, and we dare to look to the future again. People are contacting us again and are cautiously booking a holiday home for the spring and summer of 2021.
