Mijas Pueblo is a typical Spanish mountain village near Malaga with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. It is an ideal destination for a day trip. The narrow streets with charming white houses whose facades are decorated with colorful flowers are a pleasure to see. Mijas Pueblo lies 400 meters above sea level, which makes it on average 5 degrees cooler in summer than along the coast. But Mijas is more than just the beautiful mountain village. It is also one of the largest municipalities in Andalusia. The municipality of Mijas stretches from Benalmadena via Fuengirola and Alhaurin el Grande to Marbella.

Mijas Pueblo has several historical monuments such as the “Santuario de la Virgen”, the Sanctuary of the Virgin. This special chapel was carved out of rock in 1548. Religious objects were reportedly found here, including the statue of the Virgin from which it takes its name.

Next to the chapel there is a beautiful park with palm trees that provide shade during the summer months. Here, at the edge of Mijas Pueblo, you can enjoy spectacular views over the Costa del Sol. In the evening the view of the illuminated coastline and the city of Fuengirola is also impressive.
